What is Master Char and how does it work?
Master Char is an AI-powered generator that creates ready-to-use character cards based on user-defined or random parameters. A full card includes the character’s name, race, gender, age, class/profession, numerical attributes, backstory, distinguishing features, and portrait.
The Master can generate any of these elements, or only fill in the missing ones — depending on what the user has already provided. For example, if you enter just the race, age, and class, Master Char will create a fitting name, craft a backstory, calculate the stats according to D&D rules, and generate a unique portrait if you choose to include it.
The generator is very easy to use — just sign up and try it for free!

What technologies are used to generate characters?
Master Char creates heroes and backstories using the GPT-4o language model by OpenAI, and generates portraits with the GPT Image 1 model by OpenAI. This cutting-edge technology is what makes your characters so vivid and unique.
Do I need to know how to play D&D to use the service?
No, Master Char is friendly to everyone who wants to create a character quickly.
If you’re unfamiliar with D&D or just don’t have any ideas, select the «Generate All» option to get a fully-fledged hero in seconds.
There’s also an «Advanced Generator» on the character creation page, which allows you to create characters for books, movies, series, or video games.

What’s included in a generation — just the stats, or the portrait too?
It depends on your selection. There are three generation options:
1) Text and numerical parameters only (1)
2) Portrait only — all other fields must be filled in beforehand (1)
3) Full character (all parameters + portrait) (2)

Can I save my characters?
Yes! All characters you create are stored in your personal gallery until you choose to delete them. You can download the full card or just the portrait at any time. However, the gallery is limited by the number of available slots. You won’t be able to create a new character if all slots are full.
Can I use the generated characters in commercial projects?
Yes! All characters created using our service can be used in personal and commercial projects. Though Master Char would be delighted if you gave them a little credit :)
About the Character Generator
Which character parameters can be set manually?
You can set any parameter manually, but there are some differences:
1. «Gender», «Age», and «Setting» can only be selected from predefined options.
2. «Race», «Class/Profession», and numerical attributes can be chosen from a list or entered manually.
3. «Name», «Backstory», and «Distinctive Marks» must be filled in manually.
However, each parameter can also be generated automatically using AI by clicking the corresponding button.

Do I have to fill in all the fields?
Manually — no. Technically, all fields except «Distinctive Marks» are required, but you don’t need to complete them yourself. You can click «Generate all fields» and the generator will do the rest, or fill in only a few parameters and use AI to complete the rest.
Can I go back and change my character’s parameters?
Yes, you can edit the parameters at any time — both before and after character generation. To update an already created character, go to their card in the «Heroes» gallery. From there, you can edit any field or replace the image. All characteristics can be modified manually, but if you want to regenerate values using AI, it will require .
Is it necessary to generate an image?
Generating a character portrait is optional. If you want one, simply click the «I need an image» button in the generator. If not, leave the button inactive — your character card will display a default image instead.
If you change your mind, you can generate a portrait later for an existing character in your gallery. The price stays the same: Master Char will only ask for 1.

How long does image generation take?
On average, it takes about 30 seconds to generate a character image.
Why are there two types of generators in Master Char?
Most D&D characters live in a fantasy world, so we created a dedicated «D&D Generator» with a pre-set setting — so you don’t have to choose it every time.
The «Advanced Generator» allows for more flexibility: you can experiment with different settings, or choose the «No stats» option if you want to create a character for a story outside the D&D universe.

About coins and subscription
What are the coins () and how are they used?
Coins are the internal currency of the Master Char service. They are used to generate characters. After registration, you’ll receive 2 for free to test the generator and create a full character card. Additional coins can be purchased on the Pricing page or obtained through a subscription.
How do I add more coins to my balance?
Why is the subscription better than buying coins separately?
The subscription helps you save on purchasing individual coins, expands your character gallery, and improves the quality of generated portraits. Subscribers also get access to additional features: they can upload custom images for their characters and choose between the old and new portrait when regenerating. These options are not available to non-subscribers.
A subscription is a great deal if you plan to create more than four characters. First, it's more affordable, and second, you can store from 8 («Master» plan) to 20 («Puppeteer» plan) characters in the gallery at once.

Is it safe to purchase coins? Does Master Char store card data?
We do not collect or store users’ card information. All transactions are processed securely by the payment provider that handles payments for Master Char.
How long does the subscription last?
The subscription is valid for 30 calendar days from the moment of payment.
How can I pay for a plan from Russia?
We accept payments via bank cards issued by Russian banks, as well as through YooMoney wallets.
How can I pay for a plan from abroad?
To pay for our services from abroad, you can use the following methods:
1. MIR cards — acceptance depends on whether local banking partners support the MIR infrastructure. Availability may vary based on the policies of local credit organizations.
2. Payment systems: Belkart, APRA, Korti Milli, Express Pay — various systems for international transactions. -

What happens to my remaining coins if the subscription expires?
When the subscription period ends, all unused coins will expire. If you cancel your subscription before the expiration date, your coins will remain on your balance until the subscription runs out.
About the gallery
What is a character slot and why do I need it?
A character slot is a space to store your hero's card, located in the Heroes gallery in your profile. The number of slots shows how many characters you can store in Master Char at the same time. If your gallery is full, you won’t be able to create a new character until you free up at least one slot.
How many characters can I store?
If you're using Master Char with the standard Hero plan (i.e. without a subscription), you have 3 character slots in your gallery.
Master subscribers get 8 slots.
Puppeteer subscribers can store up to 20 characters.

What if I run out of slots?
You can either upgrade your plan to increase the number of slots or free up space in your gallery by deleting a character card.
If you don't want to lose it forever, make sure to download the card before deleting it!

How can I increase the number of slots?
You can expand your gallery by subscribing. Choose the Master plan to unlock 8 slots, or the Puppeteer plan to unlock 20 slots at once.
What happens to my characters when the subscription ends?
All your created characters stay in your gallery, but you won’t be able to create new ones until the number of stored characters is reduced to the limit of the basic plan (3 slots).
How can I download a character card or portrait?
Go to the Heroes gallery, select a character, and open their card. Then click the «Download Card» or «Download Image» buttons at the top.
What format are the images available in?
Both the card and the character portrait are available in PNG format.
Can I upload my own image?
Yes, but you need to subscribe to the «Puppeteer» plan to access the upload feature.
Will my characters be visible to other users?
Characters are only visible to those who have a direct link. Only the creator — that is, you — can share the link to a character card.
Technical questions
What should I do if the generation freezes or an error occurs?
If you see the message «Your request was blocked by AI service's safety system», it means your input likely contained restricted words or topics. Don’t worry — no coins were spent, and you can try again. Before you do, please make sure to check your input carefully for any inappropriate content (the list is on the generation pag).

Why can generation take some time?
Even magic takes time. Master Char creates your character step by step, calling on AI throughout the process. This involves multiple requests and data processing, so generation may take anywhere from a few seconds to a minute.
Can I use the service on my phone?
Yes, Master Char is optimized for mobile devices, so you can create characters online right from your smartphone.
Is there a limit to how many generations I can do per day?
We don’t limit the number of generations for users. Just please don’t DDoS Master Char, alright? :)
